The 12 th century church that was abandonded at the end of the 19th century and fell into such disrepair that trees grew in the nave. The church was renovated in the 1920s and is now used as a parish church.
Myresjö Old Church is a characteristic Njudung church with a nave, chapel and semicircular apse. The paintings in the church chapel are thought to date from the 13th century.
They were preserved thanks to the chapel and apse remaining in tactwhen the restof the church was a ruin. A rune stone is embedded in the wall by the entrance and another one is placed inside the church.
The christening font is from the time the church was built, the pulpit from the mid- 17th century and the bell tower was built when the curch was renovated in the 1920s.
